New Year, Same Old Jets

I'm a Jets fan.

I believe that's a genetic trait inherited from my father (thanks, Dad). About a month ago, I was pretty sure they were headed for the playoffs. There was serious talk that the Jets were the best team in the AFC. The back pages of the local tabloids had visions of a Subway Super Bowl (even though both teams play in Jersey. perhaps PATH Bowl or Turnpike Bowl would have been more appropriate.)

However, In typical fashion, they came up short in 4 of their last 5 games. Looking at it objectively, they should have lost all 5. In the first few days following the collapse, the team has fired their coach, heard that an out-of-work, Super Bowl-winning coach wasn't interested in the vacant position and had a couple of players complain about the quarterback's less than stellar play and attitude. Like a lot of my fellow fans, I hope Mr. Favre isn't back for the 2009 season.

It looks like this is going to be an interesting offseason. Anyways, all the tumult inspired a doodle which I cleaned up and turned into the image above. I guess I find drawing to be a bit more therapeutic than this.

  1. Don't feel so bad - my team didn't make it either. Of course, we lost our QB in the first game.

Nice picture - definitely captures the spirit. All in all, despite the last few games, the Jets did have a pretty good season.

  2. It was a typical Jets season. They get your hopes up just so they can crush them.

  3. ...but if there is a silver lining to the season, at least they kept the Pats out of the playoffs
